The number one thing you have to remember to house train a dog or cat is, they will use smell to remember where to “go”. You have to remove all prior urine smells from a carpet, couch, blanket, bed or any other place you have caught them using as a urinal before you can train them to go to the “right” place. Using an enzyme type of cleaner before cleaning or shampooing your carpet will remove the urine smell. Once you have removed all old urine smells you can then attract your pet to use the area that you want them to use.
