Dogs and cats are experiencing a huge increase in chronic conditions

In the last 20 years veterinarians have been reporting a marked increase in chronic aliments is dogs and cats. Skin conditions that just don’t want to go away, immunity problems with pets that don’t respond well to treatments, pets that suffer from allergies that defy diagnosis and the list goes on. One vet, Dr. Michael Dym, VMD, has suggested the connection between modern day processed pet foods and those health problems.  Dr. Dym is a firm believer in holistic veterinarian medicine, a vet that treats the whole pet, rather than just treat the symptom. In one of his written works he stated. “The two biggest factors in our pets’ population health decline over these generations has been the severe overuse of multiple vaccines and nutrient poor and toxin filled commercial pet foods. We have also failed to address the underlying cause of disease by only suppressing symptoms with antibiotics, cortisone and related drugs, so the disease progresses and goes deeper. ”

One pet supply company also believes in Dr. Dym’s philosophy, so much so that he writes their blog for them. His in-depth pet care articles are fascinating to read and learn from. I highly suggest you visit the blog at Petmeds, it is so much more than just a place to buy your pet medications from. It has information that you can take to your own vet and discuss what might be going on with your pet. One of the recent blog posts was about cancer in the pet. Since having lost Trixie, our black lab earlier this year, to cancer, that article hit home for me. There are many articles on there that I will be earmarking for future reference.

Animal websites that I don’t visit

I usually love to visit other animal blogs and websites. I am the type of person that really likes to surf by following links on blog posts or websites. I have a very active anti-virus software that will warn and then block a website should it find a trojan or virus there. Yes, you can get a virus just by visiting a website without intentionally downloading something. Most of the sites I can find something of interest but there are 2 things that just rub me wrong. One is music. Often the music starts after the website has loaded and I am reading the page. It is often loud and not my style so I then have to rush the mute the sound on my computer. The next item is those live chat software boxes that show up. No, I don’t want to talk to a customer rep, nor do I have a question. Those two things will chase me off of a website faster than someone with a “I have to kill animals because it is a human right to”, statement. Yes there are websites out there like that. Those are the ones with the Christian music and bible versus to back up their misguided thoughts. You get all kinds.

As you can tell by the photo above the website is about cats. Readers of the blog submit photos and add funny captions. They also have their own little language like “haz” for “has” ect. It is almost like piggin English with words like lipofuze, dat, skoot and lweeok. In fact here is an excerpt of a comment that appears on the site regularly “Dez berri efektiv, Ai can seez wai u savez teh SSSS for teh beeg kyoot-splorts!”

As you can see they have their own form of humor and language. It is so Kwoot!
