Pet sites

Until only recently there was no pet store within 40 miles of where I live. Sure we have a super Walmart and several feed stores but they were all sadly lacking in what I might need in the way of supplies for my pets. The local feed store was great on livestock items and feeds but even their dog section was just a few shelves of collars, leashes and rawhide chews.
In many cases I had to resort to buying some pet supplies online. I did find that if I had a large enough purchase, not only would my pet items be cheaper than buying in town but I would save on gas money too. Even with shipping costs on the rise I found out that “free shipping” is often offered to entice me into making a purchase.
We now have a Petco that is only 25 miles away but their prices are often a bit more than I am use to paying for items that I buy online. The internet has me into a discount shopper. I can now find something in a store and then I tell myself “I’ll look online to se if I can get it cheaper”.

Pet sites
This blog does get it’s fair share of link requests to animal sites. Unfortunately most of them are either pushing a product or too local a website (sorry to those that have submitted stables, boarding kennels and local fish store websites) for this blog’s readership. I have gotten requests to link to what at first appeared to be a really good dog website until I found out it had no original content of it’s own just news feeds and lots of ads. News feeds I guess are OK until I found my own work from All the Critters on one. I checked my feed and found out that they had done a cut and paste thing and stole my work! If you have a blog or website you know how much work they are. I don’t mind the first few sentences of my blog post appearing on another site with the words read the rest of the post here as a link. I DO mind when they take the whole post and put it on their blog or website and let people think it is their own work. OK, I’m finished ranting now, back to animal stuff.

Pet sites,
dog,
pets
Who doesn’t love a puppy? They are so cute and do the funniest of things when they are young. Getting a new puppy is great until you realize that they need to be potty trained, taught not to howl at night or chew everything in sight. I remember when we first got Katie. She was so cute and only 7 weeks old. Everything started out great, we even thought we had the potty training down pat. When we thought we had her potty trained she fooled us and started to squat and pee all over the place. When she started to take things out of my daughter’s bedroom and destroy them she became an outside dog to keep our Lab company. That seemed to suit Katie better than being an indoor dog. She thinks of Trixie as her “mom” and she has put herself in charge of watching over the horses.
My brother and sister-in-law went through the new puppy syndrome a few years back with their Golden Retriever puppies, they bought 2 of them. They tried to pen train them instead of crate training them, it didn’t work.. They live in the suburbs so the backyard is limited, so they complained that it was because of their small backyard that they had trouble with potty training them. Excuses, excuses. I did find a cute picture of a pair of Golden’s that looked just like their pups use to look. I found it at a new on-line puppy supply store - what else. The link is below.
