If you haven’t seen the media craze for the new baby panda, don’t worry, the video is below. You can ooh and ah all you want.

Always give your pet a hug, kind word or praise. After all they are around because you wanted them to be there.

Pet photography

If you have noticed, the last 2 posts on this blog were about really great photos of pets and wildlife.

It use to be that taking a good animal photograph was a combination of a good eye for composition on the part of the photographer and their expensive camera. Nowadays with the vast variety of digital cameras and their low prices, it is now more of a matter of talent on the part of the photographer. I like the idea that you can also preview, edit and manipulate the photo before you even decide to save it or print it out. That sure does make it easier than the days before digital cameras when you had to wait to see how the photo came out after the film was processed.

Have you taken photos of your pet lately?

A healthcare career with animals

Almost everyone I know wanted to be a veterinarian at one point in their younger years. Either their grades in school or finances kept them from becoming one. There are many other animal health careers besides vets. There are veterinarian technicians, lab technicians, horse dentists and artificial insemination technicians.  Those are just a few animal health careers.

Those people that have tried to go from human health careers to animal health will find that their nursing or medical assisting certification will do little to qualify them for a career with animals. The training and biology is totally different.

Those that do pursue a career with animals in their health care will have a large variety of locations and types of animals to work with. Large dairies, zoos, racetracks as will as the local animal shelter all need and hire animal health technicians.
