The hummingbirds are back
It is that time of the year when the hummingbirds have returned to the northwest. I saw one just today. I thought it was still just a tad too cold for them to be back yet but I guess not. Our climate has been becoming more and more mild for the winter season. Even the Canadian geese are staying year round.
I have got to set up my hummingbird feeder and of course keep it free from the wasps that are occasionally attracted to it. I just make sure that the sweet liquid does not build up on the outside of it. I just have one of those large hummingbird feeders that is made of plastic. Of course it is made from crystal so it might not find too many buyers that actually want to use it as a hummingbird feeder and more as an investment.
When I get my hummingbird feeder all set up I know I will hear that well known word at our house – "hummingbird", which is shouted out by anyone spotting a hummingbird at the feeder. They are a joy to watch and a pleasure to see at our back deck every summer.
