A novelty for your pet is NOT a necessity

While driving down main street today I looked at the big sign outside my veterinarians office. Normally it has announcements like 50% off flea products this month or discounts on teeth cleaning. This time it said "50% off of all dog clothing". I had to think about that one for a bit. I know we all are aware of doggy coats and such but I would not call them clothing, I would call them costumes. Clothing for pets is a novelty at best. Only a few working or service dogs require any protective clothing. It is also like comparing one of those new netbooks to a real laptop.

Since pet owners are now cutting back on spending you will see more and more pet novelty items becoming cheaper and cheaper until the manufactures figure out that people just don't have the money to throw away right now.
