Alligator killing

Did you see on TV today the 5 year old child that was so proud that he killed an alligator? Our news has been showing the story about a boy in Texas that killed a 800+ pound alligator. They made the remark of how a small boy could kill such a large animal. Of course they forgot to mention that the boy was using a hunting rifle. If you missed the story here it is in the Houston newspaper. I am personally appalled at the fact that this boy is being presented as some sort of glorified hero for killing an animal.

The boy was defending himself. I guess you’d rather have him eaten by the poor defenceless animal. Kinda sad, really.

“The boy was defending himself” that was not what I read in several different versions of the story. So tell me how he was defending himself with a gun in his hands. Or did he run and get the gun and come back for the kill. If he run away and got the gun then self defence now becomes a thought out killing. On the TV accounts, yes there were several of those too, the father was very proud of his little hunter. The child had been actively hunting since he was 4 years old.
